Sears dehumidifiers recalled due to fire hazard

CHICAGO (MarketWatch) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has recalled nearly 800,000 Kenmore dehumidifiers due the risk of fire and burns that they pose. The Chinese-made products can "overheat, smoke, melt and catch on fire," the CPSC said. They were sold exclusively through Sears Holdings' Sears and Kmart stores from 2003 to 2009 for between $140 and $220. Sears has received over 100 reports of incidents that caused more than $7 million in property damage and lead to three cases of smoke inhalation injuries.
