Las Vegas Sands gets Nevada scrutiny: report
8/13/12 4:20 PM ET (MarketWatch)
LOS ANGELES (MarketWatch) -- Nevada regulators are investigating casino Las Vegas Sands Corp. for possible bribery law violations, a Reuters report said late Monday. The probe by the Nevada Gaming Control Board comes on top of investigations by the U.S. Department of Justice and the Securities and Exchange Commission disclosed last week by the Wall Street Journal. The probes center around whether the company's China operations operated illegally with regard to its dealings with Macau officials and the building of a U.S.-China Enterprise named after Sands CEO and heavy GOP contributor Sheldon Adelson. The charges that stem from a breach-of-contract suit brought by the former chief executive of Sands' China operations, Steve Jacobs. Shares ended trading Monday down 1.5% to $39.37.
