Dover Corp. profit down as revenue climbs 8%

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Dover Corp. said Wednesday its second-quarter profit fell to $214.1 million, or $1.15 a share, from $249.8 million, or $1.32 a share, in the year-ago period. Earnings from continuing operations fell to $1.15 a share from $1.26 a share. Revenue increased 8% to $2.16 billion, from just under $2 billion. Wall Street analysts expected Dover Corp. to earn $1.13 a share on revenue of $2.19 billion, according to a survey by FactSet Research. Dover expects 2012 earnings from continuing operations of $4.70 to $4.85 a share.
