Apple usually up before rollout, says analyst

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Apple Inc's stock "outperforms materially" in the eight weeks before a major product rollout, Bernstein Research analyst Toni Sacconaghi said in a Monday note. But he added that, historically, Apple's stock's performance has been "relatively tepid" in the two weeks surrounding the product introduction, and typically underperforms in the two months after the rollout. But he also wrote, "With the widely-held expectation that the iPhone5 will now ship in September, a key question for the launch will be Apple's expected rollout schedule, particularly in the face of possible issues around securing key components." Apple shares hit a new all-time high on Monday, amid growing buzz surrounding the September launch of the iPhone 5. The stock was last trading up 2% to $661.27.
