Dollar index hits fresh intraday highs
SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- The U.S. dollar index gained further Thursday to touch fresh intraday highs, finding support as the U.S. stock market indexes dropped to their lowest levels of the session. The dollar index , which tracks the greenback against a basket of six rivals, was last at 82.277, after trading as high as 82.284. It's up from 81.567 late Wednesday in North American trading. The euro bought $1.2553, compared with $1.2673 late Wednesday, with the single currency trading around the day's low.
