Dollar turns down from two-year high

NEW YORK (Marketwatch) -- The dollar gave up gains against the euro on Friday after U.S. stocks opened higher. The euro turned up to $1.2232, from as low as $1.2161 in earlier action -- near a two-year low -- and versus $1.2197 in North American trade late Thursday. The dollar index , which measures the greenback's performance against a basket of major currencies, fell to 83.407 from 83.666 Thursday.
