NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Helen of Troy dropped 11.8% in premarket trades on Tuesday after the company's first-quarter profit of 74 cents a share fell short of the analyst target of 86 cents a share in a survey by FactSet Research. The El Paso, Texas, household and personal care products maker said it faced "many challenges in light of continuing consumer uncertainty and global economic problems" as well as a "challenging retail sales environment." Helen of Troy cut its fiscal 2013 earnings forecast to a range of $3.70 to $3.80 a share, from its earlier estimate of $3.80 to $3.90 a share.
