LOS ANGELES (MarketWatch) -- Electric-car maker Tesla Motors Inc. expected to begin selling its Model S sedan in Japan in the first half of next year, as it seeks to compete against Japanese electric vehicles, the Nikkei business daily reported Friday, citing a briefing from the company. While Tesla has yet to set a price for the Model S, it is expected to cost more than Nissan Motor Co.'s Leaf and Mitsubishi Motors Corp.'s i-MiEV, the report said. However, the Model S's 480-kilometer (about 300-mile) range is larger than those of the Leaf and i-MiEV, it said. Tesla began U.S. shipments of the Model S in June.
