TEL AVIV (MarketWatch) -- Sinclair Broadcast Group Inc., the Baltimore TV-station operator, definitively agreed to acquire six TV stations from Newport Television for $412.5 million. In a Thursday statement, Sinclair said it would close the deal in December or after that, subject to clearances from antitrust regulators and the Federal Communications Commission. The deal is in line with Sinclair's strategy to buy affiliates with strong viewership in midsize markets, Sinclair President and Chief Executive David Smith said. Newport is the closely held Kansas City, Mo., TV-station operator.
