U.S. stocks open slightly higher as investors await Fed minutes
U.S. stocks opened slightly higher on Wednesday as stocks added to Tuesday afternoon's rebound rally. The S&P 500 climbed 3.78 points, or 0.1%, to open at 3,837. The Dow Jones Industrial Averaged climbed 31 points, or 0.1%, to trade at 30,999. The Nasdaq Composite Index rose 18 points, or 0.2%, to 11,340. Investors are awaiting the release of the minutes from the Federal Open Market Committee's June meeting, where Fed Chairman Jerome Powell and most of the other board members with a vote opted for the biggest hike in the Fed's benchmark interest-rate target since 1994. Investors are hoping the minutes might offer more insight into the Fed's plans for tightening monetary policy.
