Apple, Amazon, and Facebook power Nasdaq higher at open
The Nasdaq Composite has jumped to an early 0.9% gain following post-earnings gains in Apple (AAPL 405.61, +20.74, +5.4%), Amazon (AMZN 3196.78, +146.19, +4.8%), and Facebook (FB 252.59, +18.08, +7.8%). The S&P 500 is up 0.3%, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average is up 0.1%. Looking at the S&P 500 sectors shows mixed results. The consumer discretionary (+1.7%) and information technology (+0.9%) sectors outperform, while the energy (-1.5%) and financials (-0.8%) sectors extend weekly declines. The communication services sector is flat amid a 4% post-earnings decline in Alphabet (GOOG 1466.41, -65.84, -4.4%). U.S. Treasuries have come down from overnight highs. The 2-yr yield is flat at 0.11%, and the 10-yr yield is up two basis points to 0.56% after touching 0.52%. The U.S. Dollar Index is up 0.2% to 93.21. WTI crude is up 1.3% to $40.45/bbl.
