Consolidating run, tech and REITs drive push higher
The major averages consolidated gains in the last half hour with the S&P 500 (+0.71%) still firmly in second place.S&P 500 constituents Twitter (TWTR 42.26, +2.36, +5.91%), Apartment Investment & Mgmt (AIV 34.90, +1.78, +5.37%), and D.R. Horton (DHI 75.08, +2.96, +4.10%) pepper the top of the standings. Social media, and tech in a broader sense, have played a role in the recent push to session highs with TWTR being a pivotal stock in that move. Broader REIT strength has aided AIV's advance, while DHI makes a nice move higher along with select homebuilding/construction peers in light of today's existing home sales number. Conversely, Rhode Island-based regional bank Citizens Financial Group (CFG 24.48, -1.35, -5.23%) sits at the bottom of the index, pressured by broader weakness in the financial and banking sectors.
