Transports Outperform
The major averages remain just shy of their highs with the Nasdaq (+0.7%) staying ahead of the S&P 500 (+0.3%). Thanks to today's advance, the Nasdaq has now turned positive for the week (+0.1% week-to-date) while the S&P 500 is still down a slight 0.1% since last Friday. Yesterday's session saw relative weakness among financials (+0.4%) and industrials (+0.5%). However, both sectors trade ahead of the broader market today. Transport stocks have contributed to the strength in the industrials sector, as the Dow Jones Transportation Average climbs 1.3%. All but three components of the group trade in the green with Delta Air Lines (DAL 41.79, +1.34, +3.3%) rising to a one-month high despite a Q4 miss and lower than expected revenue guidance for Q1.
