Energy futures mostly trade near intraday lows
There hasn't been much up or down movement in the major indices recently. The Nasdaq is performing slightly better than the other indices.Energy futures are trading mostly near intraday lows. WTI crude oil futures are down 3.2% to $96.30. Unleaded gasoline futures are down 2.6% to $3.24/gal. Natural gas futures are going against the grain having come off their lows, currently trading up 0.6% to $5.52/mmbtu.On a related note, the S&P 500 energy sector is the worst performer by a wide margin, down 3.5%, with every component trading in the red. Several sector constituents have dipped below their 200-day moving average today, including Chevron (CVX 138.72, -3.94, -2.8%), Marathon Oil (MRO 20.14, -0.99, -4.7%), and Hess (HES 93.63, -4.57, -4.7%).
