'Educated' by Tara Westover is Amazon's top choice for 'Best Books' list
"Educated: A Memoir" by Tara Westover was named Best Book of the Year by Amazon.com Inc. (AMZN) book editors, topping the Best Books of 2018 list. In the book, which President Obama also praised (http://www.marketwatch.com/story/barack-obama-and-bill-gates-agree-that-this-book-is-an-absolute-must-read-2018-08-20), Westover recounts her upbringing in a survivalist family in Idaho and eventual Ph.D. education at Cambridge University. Other books on the list include "Washington Black," a novel about a young slave by Esi Edugyan; "Elevation" by Stephen King, about a Maryland man who loses weight each day; and "There There" by Tommy Orange about Native Americans in Oakland, Calif. Half of the top picks were from debut authors. Amazon stock has gained 47.2% for the year to date while the S&P 500 index is up 4% for the period.
