UPDATE: Top Democratic lawmakers criticize Omar's 'use of anti-Semitic tropes'
The House Democrats' leadership on Monday blasted Minnesota Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar's suggestion on Sunday (http://www.marketwatch.com/story/beto-orourke-to-join-counter-trump-rally-in-el-paso-omar-ignites-new-anti-semitism-controversy-with-aipac-comments-2019-02-11) that support for Israel on Capitol Hill is driven by money. "Congresswoman Omar's use of anti-Semitic tropes and prejudicial accusations about Israel's supporters is deeply offensive," said House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Majority Leader Steny Hoyer and other top Democratic lawmakers in a statement. "We condemn these remarks and we call upon Congresswoman Omar to immediately apologize for these hurtful comments."
