McConnell says Senate will vote on 'Green New Deal'
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said Tuesday there will be a vote on the "Green New Deal" plan (http://www.marketwatch.com/story/heres-what-we-know-about-the-democrats-green-new-deal-2019-02-07) to combat climate change and create jobs in renewable energy. The proposal by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Sen. Edward Markey, both Democrats, isn't binding and has drawn harsh criticism from President Donald Trump and other Republicans. Kentucky Republican McConnell said he wanted to give members a chance to be on the record about the proposal. A "yes" vote on the controversial legislation could help Republicans paint Democrats as extreme on energy policy ahead of the 2020 elections.
