Wall Street opens flat as senior-level trade talks begin
The major averages open near their flat lines as trade talks get set to resume in Washington. The S&P 500 is up 0.1%, the Dow Jones Industrial Average is flat, and the Nasdaq Composite is up 0.1%.Looking at the S&P 500 sectors shows mixed results. The energy (+0.5%) and financial (+0.4%) sectors outperform the broader market, while the utilities sector (-0.7%) sits at the bottom of the pack. U.S. Treasuries have declined, pushing yields higher in a curve-steepening trade. The 2-yr yield is up one basis point to 1.47%, and the 10-yr yield is up three basis points to 1.62%. The U.S. Dollar Index is down 0.3% to 98.82. WTI crude is up 1.2% to $53.24/bbl.
