Google, a unit of Alphabet Inc. (GOOGL), has been ordered by federal regulators to assure its employees that they are allowed to speak out on workplace issues, according to a report in The Wall Street Journal. The report, which cited people familiar with the matter, said the National Labor Relations Board's (NLRB) move comes after current and former employees complained that they were retaliated against for raising concerns about equality and freedom of speech. Alphabet's stock edged up 0.3% in premarket trading. It has rallied 16.8% year to date, while the S&P 500 has advanced 19.7%.
