Information Technology Underperforms, Chip Stocks Pare Losses
The S&P 500 currently trades with a loss of 0.2%. The benchmark index is still on pace to finish the week with a gain over 2.0%, though.Looking inside the heavily-weighted information technology sector (-0.3%) shows heavyweights Apple (AAPL 152.26, -1.54, -1.0%) and Microsoft (MSFT 102.42, -14.64, -1.4%) dragging on the group. Conversely, chip stocks outperform, evidenced by the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index up 1.1%.Separately, WTI crude snapped its nine-day winning streak, losing 1.9% to settle at $51.68/bbl. The energy sector is today's worst-performing S&P group with a loss of 0.9%. The sector, though, is still on pace to finish with a weekly gain over 3.0%.
