Stocks open mixed on last day of Q2
The major indices start the session mixed and little changed. The S&P 500 is up 0.2%, the Dow Jones Industrial Average is down 0.1%, and the Nasdaq Composite is up 0.3%. An early look at the S&P 500 sectors shows financials (+0.8%), utilities (+0.5%), and information technology (+0.4%) outperforming, while the energy (-1.1%), industrials (-0.5%), and materials (-0.4%) sectors show relative weakness. U.S. Treasuries trade slightly higher, pushing yields lower. The 2-yr yield is down two basis points to 0.14%, and the 10-yr yield is down one basis point to 0.63%. The U.S. Dollar Index is little changed at 97.51. WTI crude is down 1.8% to $38.97/bbl.
