Microsoft, Alphabet, and Facebook hit new highs
Little has changed since the last update with the S&P 500 (+0.3%) and Nasdaq (+0.8%) still trading higher and Dow (-0.1%) still trading lower. Within the mega-cap space, Microsoft (MSFT 253.02, +3.11, +1.3%), Alphabet (GOOG 2265.07, +15.54, +0.7%), and Facebook (FB 312.13, -0.94, -0.3%) have set all-time highs today, although FB has since slipped below its flat line. Separately, Twitter (TWTR 70.01, +1.02, +1.5%) is up 1.5% amid news that that the company had been in talks to acquire Clubhouse, an emerging audio-based social network, for roughly $4 billion. This was a bit surprising since Twitter has been working on a Clubhouse competitor called Spaces.
