Major indices open little changed, energy stocks rise
The S&P 500 (unch), Nasdaq Composite (-0.1%), and Dow Jones Industrial Average (-0.1%) begin the session trading little changed. Looking at the sector standings shows energy (+2.1%) up 2% as oil prices increase their distance above $70 per barrel ($72.32/bbl, +1.86, +2.6%). No other sector is up at least 0.3%. On the downside, the consumer discretionary (-0.8%) and utilities (-0.5%) sectors underperform in the red. In the Treasury market, the 2-yr yield is flat at 0.21%, and the 10-yr yield is flat at 1.28%. The U.S. Dollar Index is down 0.1% to 92.50.
