Amazon's IMDb launches 'Freedive' channel that streams movies and TV shows for free

Amazon.com Inc.'s (AMZN) IMDb, or internet movie database, said Thursday that it launched "Freedive," a free streaming video channel where viewers can watch movies and TV shows. The channel will be available in the U.S. on the IMDb website (https://www.imdb.com/freedive/), via laptop or PC, and on all Amazon Fire TV devices. Amazon said Freedive will be an ad-supported channel, and will be made available without a paid subscription. Among the movies IMDb said are available are "Awakenings," "Monster," "The Illusionist," "The Last Samurai" and "True Romance," while some of the TV shows available include "The Bachelor," "Fringe," "Heroes" and "Without a Trace." Amazon's stock slipped 0.3% in midday trade, but had been down as much as 2.3% at its intraday low. Meanwhile, the S&P 500 was up 0.1%, after being down as much as 0.9% earlier.
