The U.S.-listed shares of Argentina-based companies dominated the biggest-decliners list on the NYSE, in the wake of the surprise outcome in Argentina's primary election (http://www.marketwatch.com/story/argentina-fund-swoons-as-macri-suffers-primary-defeat-2019-08-12) that suggests Presicent Mauricio Macri will have a hard time holding onto power. Among the biggest losers, shares of Loma Negra Compania Industrial Argentina S.A. (LOMA.BA) plummeted 56.9%, Empresa Distribuidora y Comercializadora Norte S.A. (EDN.BA) tumbled 53.1%, Central Puerto S.A. (CEPU2.BA) sank 52.7%, BBVA Banco Frances S.A. (BBAR.BA) plunged 50.2% and Grupo Supervielle S.A. (SUPV.BA) gave up 49.0%. Meanwhile, the Global X MSCI Argentina ETF (ARGT) dropped 23.9%, after rising 8.9% amid a 4-day win streak leading up to the election. The ETF was still up 8.2% year to date, while the S&P 500 was up 15.3%.
