Wendy's Co. (WEN) said Thursday that it has launched "The Plantiful," a plant-based burger, in Canada. Wendy's created its own recipe for The Plantiful patty, rather than turning to Beyond Meat Inc. (BYND) or Impossible Foods for one of their products. The Plantiful patty is made with a pea-based protein and comes with lettuce, tomato, pickles, ketchup and cheese. Wendy's is also poised to launch its breakfast menu (http://www.marketwatch.com/story/wendys-will-launch-its-new-breakfast-menu-on-march-2-2020-02-04) on March 2, which will include items like the Breakfast Baconator. Wendy's, which announced quarterly earnings (http://www.marketwatch.com/story/wendys-shares-fall-premarket-as-earnings-beat-offset-by-soft-guidance-2020-02-26) on Wednesday, is down 2.7% in premarket trading, though the stock has rallied 26% over the past year. The S&P 500 index is up 11.6% for the last 12 months.
