Amazon.com Inc. (AMZN) intends to hire 100,000 more U.S. employees to handle a deluge of e-commerce orders and deliveries as more Americans stay home to help contain the spread of COVID-19. The Seattle-based company also is raising pay for these employees in the U.S. and Canada by $2 an hour through April. Amazon accounts for nearly 40% of all online orders in the U.S., according to eMarketer. Amazon's hiring spree comes as Apple Inc. (AAPL), Nike Inc. (NKE), and others temporarily shut down stores in the U.S.
