Boeing to suspend production at Puget Sound facilities for 14 days, stock is halted for news

Boeing Co. (BA) said Monday it will suspend its Puget Sound-area production operations for 14 calendar days, citing the emergency in Washington state as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. The aerospace and defense giant said it plans to reduce production activity on Monday and expects the suspension of operations to begin March 25. Boeing said the Puget Sound-area employees who can work from home will continue to do so, while those who can't work from home will receive paid leave for the first 10 working days of the suspension. Boeing said that when the suspension is lifted, it will take an "orderly approach" to restarting production. The stock was up 4.5% prior to a trading halt for news. Late Friday, Boeing said it was halting is dividend (http://www.marketwatch.com/story/boeing-halts-dividend-share-buyback-program-amid-coronavirus-pandemic-2020-03-20) and extending the halt of its share repurchase program. The stock has plummeted 70.6% over the past three months, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average (BA) has lost 33.4%.
