Facebook Inc. (FB) will begin allowing for some users to to turn off "all social issue, electoral or political ads from candidates" or other organizations that have the "Paid for by" disclaimer on them. The option will be available to everyone in the U.S. in the next few weeks, said Naomi Gleit, vice-president of product management and social impact, in a blog post Tuesday ( /). Users can make that changed on Facebook or Instagram directly from any political or social issue ad or through each platform's ad settings. Also starting Tuesday, disclaimers will remain on any political or issue ad that is shared so users can see who is behind it and who paid for it. An additional feature will allow users to track ad spending for U.S. House and Senate races, as well as for U.S. presidential candidates. The moves are part of a new Voting Information Center being rolled out by the social media company and will appear at the top of Facebook and Instagram pages starting this summer.
