Stocks ended lower Thursday, with a slide in tech shares leading the way, as investors sifted through corporate earnings and weekly data on jobless claims. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell around 35 points, or 1.1%,to close near 26,652, according to preliminary figures, while the S&P 500 dropped around 40 points, or 1.2% to finish near 3,236. The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite slid around 245 points, or 2.3%, closing near 10,461. Government data showed 1.42 million Americans filed for first-time unemployment benefits last week, a rise of 109,000 from the previous week and the first rise of those seeking benefits since late March.
