Zynga Inc. (ZNGA) leaped to the top spot in mobile video gaming market share in the U.S. in July based on sales via Apple Inc.'s (AAPL) App Store and Alphabet Inc.'s (GOOGL)(GOOGL) Google Play store, according to Cowen analyst Doug Creutz. Zynga made the jump from No. 4 following its acquisition of Peak for $1.8 billion. Peak's Toon Blast became the 12th-most popular game on the App Store in July, enough to propel Zynga to the top spot over Activision Blizzard Inc. (ATVI), according to Creutz. Zynga has fortified its portfolio of games in recent years, with purchases of Small Giant Games ($560 million), NaturalMotion ($527 million), and Gram Games ($250 million).
