Company is adding a feature that lets restaurants see all order tickets in one place, regardless of how orders were placed
Square Inc. is looking to simplify the order-flow process for restaurants, announcing Tuesday a new software system that displays tickets in one location regardless of how customers placed their orders.
The company's new Square KDS software unifies order tickets stemming from different platforms, including Square-powered online stores, a restaurant's point of sale system, and third-party online services like Doordash.
Square (SQ) is offering a 30-day free trial of its Restaurants Plus plan, which includes the kitchen-display system. The Plus plan, which also provides access to things like seat-management tools and a real-time view of sales, normally starts at $60 a month.
Shares of Square are up about 6% in Tuesday trading. They're up 203% so far this year as the S&P 500 has risen 12%.
