Here's when Biden's expected energy pick Granholm says a 'low-carbon recovery' needs to start

That's President-elect Joe Biden's reported pick for energy secretary, Jennifer Granholm, writing last month in the Detroit News, in an op-ed ( calling for policies to hasten a zero-carbon future and create jobs.

Granholm, a former two-term Michigan governor, was writing about that state, but would be poised to expand her vision nationwide if confirmed by the Senate to head the Energy Department.

Politico reported that Granholm -- known as an advocate for electric vehicles(TSLA)(NIO) -- actively promoted herself ( to be considered for the DOE post, and used the op-ed to show how Biden's clean-energy goals could fit with his wishes to help revive the Rust Belt economy.

Biden pledged during the presidential campaign to achieve net-zero emissions in the U.S. by 2050, and Granholm would be part of the team working to achieve that goal.

"The private sector needs greater support and political will from our policymakers to help us fully realize the potential of a zero-carbon future," Granholm wrote.
