Target to launch new pet food line, Kindfull

Target Corp. (TGT) announced Wednesday that it will add a pet food brand, Kindfull, to its owned brands lineup on August 15. The brand will include 50-plus items including dry food and treats priced under $10. Ingredients include pumpkin, turmeric, brown rice and wild caught salmon. Most of Target's customers are pet owners, according to the announcement, and the brands packaging is recyclable, which is in line with the retailer's environmental goals. Kindfull joins Target's other owned pet brand Boots & Barkley, which includes pet apparel and accessories. Target stock has rallied 50.6% for the year to date while the S&P 500 index is up 18.4% for the period.
