On September 28, 2020, WPX announced that it had signed an agreement to be acquired by Devon in a merger of equals. Pursuant to the merger agreement, WPX stockholders will receive 0.5165 shares of Devon common stock for each share of WPX common stock owned. The deal is scheduled to close in the first quarter of 2021.
